America reached in and started searching around. After a while he pulled his hand back out.

"Interesting!  Japan you are up." America said as he held up an iron fan. Japan sighed and stood up and took his fan away from America. Then he tentatively reached into the box. After blindly searching around for a bit he grasped something that felt like a rectangular cloth. Curious he pulled it out and immediately put on a poker face.

The cloth was actually a tri-colored flag. But instead of being horizontally or vertically split it had thirteen red and white stripes. And on one of the top corners there was a blue square with fifty white stars on it.

"Alright! Looks like you chose the hero!" America shouted as he grabbed Japan and practically dragged him into the closet before closing the closet door behind him.

"Be careful Amerika-san," Japan spoke as the closet door closed. "I could have accidently cut you with the tessen."

"Huh? How could you have cut me with the fan?"

"It's made out of iron." Japan answered as his eyes grew accustomed to the almost absolute darkness of the small room. "Besides, why do we have to be playing this game in specific?"

"Partly because this is a fun game to play at parties."

So locking two people in a closet for seven minutes is fun?

"And because I was hoping I could get a chance to talk to you in private."

"Talk? What do you wish to talk about?"

"About you and me. Well about both of us to be more exact."

"Then there is nothing to talk about. Everything that could have been said has already been said."

"No, it hasn't there is still a lot of things that I wish to speak to you about."

What else is there to say that hasn't been said already?

"Amerika-" Japan was caught off when America pulled him into a tight embrace.

"Hush, and let me do the talking." America felt a small nod come from Japan indicating that he could continue. "I want you to forgive me for everything that I have done to you."

"Shh. There are still a lot of things that I need to tell you. Starting with the fact that I forced you out of your isolation and out into the world."

"There is nothing to apologize about that."

"But there is. I took you out into an unfamiliar world that had drastically changed from when you last saw it 250 years prior. I never noticed the danger I put you in when I did that. I was mostly interested in getting as much as I could out of you by forcing you to open your doors to the world again. It actually never crossed my mind that by doing that you might fall into the same fate a lot of your fellow nations did."

"But I did." Japan said as both of his hands tightly closed. "And that is the reason why I had to gain power as fast as I could. The reason why I had to modernize and become part of the modern world as one of the main powers. For, unlike many of the nations that lived near me, I have never been colonized or invaded. That is until the occupation after the Unnecessary War."

"Plus I forced on you all those treaties that benefited me the most out of the two of us."

"Yes, they did. But they also got a lot of the other countries to follow your footsteps and force similar treaties upon myself and my people."

"About that-"

"Don't think anything about it. They seem to think of you as a ringleader. I find it amusing that the some of the oldest nations are allowing themselves to be lead around by someone as young and inexperienced as yourself."

"Then maybe you should include yourself in that list. Ever since the occupation you haven't disagreed with me much."

"That is because I am afraid."

"Afraid of what?"

"That if I was to anger you once more… you would repeat… what happened to both Hiro and Saki."

"Oh, that brings me another thing I have to apologize to you about." As he spoke America tilted Japan's head so that they were facing each other. "I am sorry about the atomic bombs. None of us knew the extent of the damage that it would cause."

"How can you not have?" Japan said his voice sounding bitter. "You tested it, no?"

"We did, but it was in a desert. We didn't test it on an actual city."

"You really are a foolish child."

"Now you are starting to sound like Iggy."

Silence overcame both nations as they continued to stare at each other. Then Japan reached up, after putting the tessen in his sleeve, and cupped America's face between his hands.

"What is your real intention Amerika-san?" Japan asked as he looked at America in the eye. "What is your reason for doing all of this?"

"…" America stayed silent as he allowed himself to gaze into Japan's chocolate brown eyes. Then he gave a small laugh that made Japan stare at him curiously. "Don't worry I'll never hurt you again Japan. I make that vow to you."

"Prove it."

"I will." America smiled again and bent down and kissed Japan. "By sealing it with a kiss." Now it was Japan's turn to laugh and America's to stare at him curiously. Japan took his fan out and playfully swatted him with it.

"I'll accept the kiss, but I also want you to make the promise on my terms." As he spoke Japan took America's hand and intertwined their pinkie fingers together. "Yubikiri."

"What is it?"

"A pinky promise. Now chant after me. Yubi kiri genman"

"Y-you be key lee gain month?"

Japan giggled and quickly taught America the syllables. America did stumble over some of the words but he managed to grasp them in the end. Even though, in Japan's opinion, he looked pretty cute as he tried to memorize the chant. After America memorized it both of them chanted together:

Yubi kiri genman

Uso tsuitara

Hari sen bon nomasu

Yubi kitta

"So what does that mean?" America asked after they had momentarily tighten their grip before releasing each other's fingers.

"Pinky promise, if I lie, I will drink 1000 needles, and cut my pinky." Japan said with a smile at America's face expression. "Your face mirrors Igirisu-san's after we did the promise as well. Ironically, it was almost the exact same vow. And unlike most people I actually mean the punishment."

"When did you do that to England?"

"During the Unnecessary War. I caught him in one of his territories in the Pacific and since he broke the promise I made him pay." Japan said with a shrug.

"So that's how he got those injuries?"

"Exactly. But unlike him, you have no magic to heal yourself with, so be careful." Japan said as he kissed America. "And that I am sealing with a kiss."

"Time's up!" Japan and America turned to see England open the door and stare quizzically at them. Next to him was China who was calmly ignoring England's presence and was switching between suspicious looks at America and questioning ones at Japan.

"Alright!" America said as he ignored England and put his item back. "Japan please return your item and let's see who goes next!"

I am going to have to questionnaire England later about that pinkie promise.
Picture does not belong to me!

Unnecessary War Japan is talking about WW2. It is a term used by Winston Churchill to President Franklin D. Roosevelt regarding what name should the war have.
Taken from Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War by Patrick J. Buchanan

Yubikiri: This is done when making promises with friends. The song is real and that is its real translation!
(so America will have to be careful!)

First time writing AmeriPan... Not sure how it came out...

At first I was smiling, as this is my OTP.
Then I felt sadness, as they discussed WW2.
Then I smiled again when they kissed and stuff.
Then I laughed because they acted like nothing happened after they exited the closet.

You almost made me cry with the Atomic Bomb part. It didn't help that I was listening to a sad piano song while reading. You're a wonderful writer. You really made me feel the emotion.

... FDR. FRANKLIN Delano Roosevelt. Not Theodore - he didn't live to see WWII. Otherwise, nice.
